Kathmandu: The Election Commission has officially handed over the certificate of party registration to the newly formed Nepali Communist Party (CPN) on Friday.

A coalition of around a dozen left-leaning political forces — including the CPN (Maoist Centre) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Kumar Nepal — had jointly formed the new party and applied for registration with the Commission.

CPN leader Lilamani Pokharel confirmed that the party received its registration certificate today.
The unified political force was formally announced on November 5 through a unification programme, with Prachanda serving as the party’s coordinator.

As preparations intensify for the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026, the Election Commission has set November 16 as the final deadline for political parties to register for the upcoming polls.
